SIAM at UC Davis
The SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) chapter at UC Davis is committed to promoting the interests of students in all forms of applied mathematics at UC Davis. We have several social and academic events which foster interaction between students of varying disciplines and with professionals in industry.
One of the largest events the SIAM chapter organizes is the annual Davis SIAM Student Research Conference (DSSRC) which takes place in Spring Quarter at UC Davis. The conference provides an opportunity for students to promote their research in either a talk or poster session format. Pictures of the conference from previous years and other evetns are available online.
The SIAM chapter is open to both undergraduate and graduate students from any department. Students are encouraged and welcomed to participate in SIAM-sponsored events even if they are not members.
Davis SIAM Round Table on Summer Internships, Workshops, and Extra-Academic Experiences
TBD (early Fall, 2015)
In early fall of 2015 the UC Davis SIAM Club will host a collaborative round-table discussion and social event aimed at early-career graduate students and undergraduates. At this meeting, senior graduate students who spent their summers in internships outside academia will share their experiences with their younger colleagues, in an attempt to generate awareness about the types of summer opportunities available outside of academia.
